Hi friends!
We’ve been closely following the news at the Blume HQ — the ups, the downs, the bans, and the (bill) passes. There’s still a lot of work to do in the fight for equality, and this is why our #OursToOwn campaign first came to be. Does art have the power to fuel social and political change? Our team believes it does. If you’re not familiar with it yet, it’s not too late to get involved now:
What is #OursToOwn?
Reproductive health is ours to own. My Body My Choice is a symbol of resistance to the changes in legislation. When it’s expressed through creative mediums, we believe it can be a catalyst for change. We want to continue spurring conversation around the My Body My Choice movement and more importantly want to continue elevating your voices! To amplify the voices of our growing community, we invite you to join us in sharing what this means to you.

Why are we extending the deadline?
We’ve received a lot of inquiries since this contest first launched, asking if the money can be donated to charities, organizations or other causes outside the realm of reproductive/womxn’s rights. As a team, we’ve decided to change things up to empower you with the choice!
What will the winner receive?
Don’t worry, we’re still committing to donate $10,000 but now you will have the freedom to do whatever it is you please with $5,000 of the total prize.
It’s hard to create for free and we want to support artists that are investing their time and materials into making art. The remainder will still be going to a charity of your choice but you can also decide to donate the full amount to the charity as well.
We want to make this as fair as possible and hope to spark new interest among other talented artists! The time to get involved is now. The new deadline for submission is Dec 1st, 2019.
The requirements remain the same:
- Upload artwork that reflects what ‘My Body My Choice’ means to you
- Tag @blume and use #OursToOwn in your caption
- Share share share!
If you have any questions at all, feel free to DM us @blume! Good luck and remember the more artwork you share, the more chances you have to win. Some great Twitter accounts we love to stay in the loop are @PPFA and @ACLU if you’re looking for new sources!
*Any artwork that is reposted or shared by Blume throughout this contest period acknowledges the artist to provide full credibility as we respect artists, their creative work, and their time.
*We’re also accepting any past artwork you’ve created, all you need to do is upload it (again) and tag us for submission.
